Vegetable Farms and Orchards in Suburbia
Living at the edge of suburbia has its perks... Target is 20 minutes away, but so is a roadside stand selling just-picked corn.
This is the time of year when the farms wake up. When tomatoes taste like tomatoes. When apples still have leaves attached. When you pull over “just to look” and leave with a basket full of produce and absolutely no dinner plan.
It’s one of the things I’ve grown to love most about this place. Every season brings something new... sweet peaches in July, butternut squash in October, apples so crisp they practically announce fall.
These little farm visits have become part of my rhythm. A short drive. A slower pace. A reminder that the best things are usually local, seasonal, and slightly dirt-covered.
It’s not just about the food, it’s about the ritual. The pause. The connection to something real and growing.
And the peaches are really, really good.
